Abra Compatibility with Microsoft Vista
Topic: Microsoft recently released a new operating system, Vista , which is not supported by Abra Suite or Abra HRMS. In writing Vista , Microsoft used a file name that is already in use by Abra. The common use of this file name results in an incompatibility between Abra and Vista . Because of this conflict, Sage Abra Suite or HRMS (Abra v7.4, Abra v7.5, Abra v8.1 or Abra v8.2) will not function in the Vista environment. It is critical that the current versions of Abra Suite and Abra HRMS not be installed in a Vista environment. Other add-on components used with Abra Suite and Abra HRMS that are not certified for use with Vista include OrgPlus v5, Alerts v4.1 and Crystal Reports versions 8.5 and 10. Customers are advised to contact all other 3rd party vendors of add-on capabilities used in conjunction with their Abra installation to obtain information about the compatibility of those components with Vista .
Who is impacted: All Abra Suite users on versions 7.5 and earlier. All Abra HRMS users on version 8.2 and earlier.
Resolution: Sage Abra will resolve the conflict introduced by Microsoft Vista in the next maintenance updates to Sage Abra, Abra Suite v7.6 and Abra HRMS v8.3, which are scheduled to be Generally Available in late summer 2007.

Abra Compatibility with 64-Bit Environments
Topic: Microsoft is offering a 64-bit edition of Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. These offerings are not compatible with Sage Abra Suite v7, Abra HRMS v8 or Abra Workforce Connections. 64-bit environments create conflicts with Abra Data Access impacting custom report use and security in versions 7 and 8 and with Abra Suite encryption in version 7. The incompatibility with AWC is due to the FoxPro components embedded in the AWC product that are required for the integration of AWC and Suite/HRMS.
Who is impacted: All Abra Suite users on versions 7.5 and earlier. All Abra HRMS users on version 8.2 and earlier.
Resolution: Sage Abra Suite v7.5 and earlier, Abra HRMS v8.2 and earlier and all versions of Abra Workforce Connections should be installed with the 32-Bit version of Windows 2003 and XP. The standard 32 bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 will run on most Intel and AMD 64 bit machines and this is compatible with Abra.
